Across The World Approved in Kazakhstan!

We are doing the happy dance at Across The World Adoptions today!  Please join us in celebrating our approval to complete adoptions in Kazakhstan.  Today, May 2, ATWA got the news that we are one of only two agencies to receive this honor.  Check out the photos of our beautiful new office in Almaty, where we can complete adoptions.  In addition to our work space, we will offer child care for the children waiting for their parents to take them to their forever home!  More news and photos to follow as we learn more.  We do know that Kazakhstan will now be a Hague Convention country so you will need an I-800A application.  Get started with your home study and apply to ATWA!

Adoption and Asian Names

An interesting blog called “Ask a Korean” had this question submitted:

Dear Korean,

We are adopting a sweet little boy from the Seoul area. My husband is Lebanese/American and I am European/American. We were planning on keeping the name his birthmother had given him which is HaJin. However a Chinese/American male friend didn’t think this was a good idea. My friend stated that growing up Asian was difficult enough, and he and his Asian friends were grateful to have been given more English sounding names. What are your thoughts on this?
