Our History

Across The World Adoptions (ATWA) is a Hague accredited, licensed, non-profit international adoption agency founded in 1995 with a charter program in Romania . In 2000, we began our program in Guatemala and in 2001, the agency started adoptions from Kazakhstan . In 2007, we established one of the only adoption programs in Japan .
In 2008, Across The World was proud to achieve full Hague accreditation. We have case workers serving home study families throughout the state of California . We are able to provide country programs services in all states and cooperate with many other agencies to offer adoption choices. We are dedicated to making sure our families are informed and prepared for adoption. Across The World Adoptions has been a full member of Joint Council on International Children’s Services (JCICS) for about ten years.
In 2009 -2010, the agency looks forward to establishing programs in new countries and providing additional opportunities for adoptive families.
In addition to infants and toddlers, we have always helped older children and children with special needs find families. This led to our involvement on a yearly basis with bringing children who are at least five years old to the U.S. for cultural exchange and possible adoption from Russia , Kazakhstan , Ukraine and Colombia .
Across The World Adoptions provides support to institutions that care for children. We have contributed thousands of dollars for washing machines, furnaces, new bathrooms, computers and playground equipment as well as vitamins, medicines, medical equipment, clothing, shoes, school supplies, toys and personal hygiene items for the children who continue to wait for families. We have donated about 700 new teddy bears.
The agency hosts an annual picnic to celebrate our children from across the world. At these joyous events, we are especially thrilled to visit with the families we have brought together over the years and to welcome new folks considering adoption.
